Dear Parents,

Thank you so much for surprising Mrs. Shumway with the birthday wishes! The kids had fun celebrating that with her.

This week is crazy--so here's a few reminders to help you!

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences are next week on November 3 and 4. Because of the class load, we will have conferences all day on Wednesday and normal conference times on Wednesday evening and Thursday night. Because you will be meeting with both of us, you will just need to sign up under my name. Follow the directions that were sent home. If you have questions call the office! Thanks!

Halloween Parade

Friday is the Halloween Parade. It starts at 9:00. Mrs. Yost has said masks (as long as the child can see out of it) may be worn during the parade, but not the rest of the day. The party starts at 10:00. If you would like to help out at the party, please contact the room moms. Thanks!

Spelling Test

I decided not to fight the Halloween day--and we will be taking the spelling test on Thursday. I sent the homework folders home early so you could have a little extra time to practice and study.

We will be back to normal the next week. Thanks for your understanding with this!

Abesences

There have been a lot of parents requesting work for absences that will happen. Unfortunately, preparing the work beforehand takes a lot of time. Mrs. Shumway and I will not be preparing packets in advance anymore because it does take away from our time to teach the students. What we will do instead is we will make an absent packet for when your child is gone and collect the work they miss. Your child will have as many days as they are gone to make up the work.

If you are planning a trip, we would still like to know that you will be gone. While you are gone--for the English class you should just have your child read the 15 minutes each day and write a travel journal of what they did.

Poems and Reading Calendars

Poems will be due on Thursday. Reading calendars will be due next Monday.

For our school incentive this year, we will be doing the Book It reading program from Pizza Hut. When your child reads their 300 minutes a month, they will earn a pizza coupon. This will begin with the month of October.

Book Orders

I have made available the November book orders and the Holiday book orders. There are some extra ones online as well you can check out. These orders are due on Friday.
